The Bactrim® tablet is a 500 mg/125 mg dose of sulfamethoxazole and is used to treat Helicobacter pylori ulcers (also known as gastric ulcers) in adults. SMZ® tablet is used to help prevent peptic ulcers. The Bactrim® tablet is also used for the prevention of gastric cancer, especially in the first 5 years of treatment. The tablets are also used to prevent ulcers in children and adolescents, especially if they have a history of ulcers.
You should take the Bactrim® tablet exactly as directed by your doctor. Your doctor may occasionally change your dose to watch for side effects or adjust the dose if you experience any of the side effects or if you have any side effects not listed in this medication guide.
